Major Announcement: New Director of Coaching!

Sandpoint Soccer Association would like to announce Mike Pellicio as the Director of Coaching of Sandpoint Strikers FC, effective July 1, 2021.

Mike has spent the last six years as the Director of Coaching of the Spokane Sounders, been on the Region IV ODP staff since 2016, and holds his US Soccer “B” License. As the head coach of the Spokane Shadow Men’s First Team, he was awarded the Northwest Conference Coach of the Year in 2018 in the National Premier Soccer League for the team’s undefeated league campaign. Sandpoint natives Tanner French and Tanner Williams played for the Spokane Shadow during his tenure as head coach.

Mike also served as the Director of Coaching in 2014 for Sandpoint Strikers FC.

“I’m tremendously excited to be back in Sandpoint working with a club that I love and a large handful of kids who will hopefully remember my first stint here,” said Pellicio. “This club and community are wonderful and I’d like the time to thank my friend Rick Mullins for the excellent work that he’s clearly done with the programs and Alan Brinkmeier and the SSA board of directors for giving me this opportunity.”

“SSA is extremely excited to welcome Mike back to Sandpoint. Mike's time in Spokane gave him a great perspective of the local landscape and the obstacles that clubs around the area must overcome. We look forward to Mike starting July 1 and he wants to hit the ground running. Thank you, Mike, for your invested interest in Sandpoint, our Club, and most importantly the kids. We look forward to many years with Mike at the helm and look forward to the positive changes to come.” -SSA President Brinkmeier

Mike is coming in with a clear plan and has identified areas that will be an immediate focus as he takes on this role. These include increased coaching education for all coaches and parents alike, a clear developmental pathway for every player in the club from start to finish, and a continuation of curriculum development in support of all coaches. SSA believes that a focus on these will only enhance our club and its programs.
