Sandpoint Strikers FC is pleased to announce Rick Mullins as Director of Coaching. Rick comes to Sandpoint after recently serving as Director of Spokane Youth Sports Association and Technical Director of Idaho Rush in Boise. Rick previously was boys Director of Coaching for Spokane Soccer Club Elite (2009-2011) as well as Coeur d'Alene Sting (2003-2009). Rick has also been involved in the Idaho Olympic Development Program since 2002.
“We are very excited to bring Rick on as our new DOC,” commented Strikers Club Vice President Adam Tajan. “I've know Rick for many years. He has a contagious energy and passion for soccer that is unmatched. Rick loves soccer and the outdoors which will be a perfect fit for Sandpoint!"
Rick holds the highest license available in the United States, the USSF “A” License, as well as the prestigious National Youth License, the NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Fitness and Sports Management from Central Washington University.
As a player, Rick played three years for CWU and was a three-time first team all-league midfielder in addition to being team captain. Rick has also represented the Yakima Reds and the Spokane Shadow semi-professionally in the USL and is in the Community Colleges of Spokane Athletic Hall of Fame for his freshman year first team all-league contribution.
Rick’s experience, passion, and energy are a great fit for the Sandpoint Strikers. His experience, highlighted by his impressive licenses, a decade's worth of experience as a director of coaching, and familiarity with the region will be a huge bonus as the club strives to continue and further the tradition of excellence throughout the region.
